Telling a story. Sharing a culture. Preserving History.
Scape & Culture focuses on telling the story of space. In particular, a very specific space. With its deep history, the space (Wexford Town’s historic BullRing) illustrates its development from natural beginnings, to settlement, through war and heartbreak, and to the present artistic and alternative space it is today.
To settlement…
To today…
…From nature
Through conflict…
And whatever the future holds
The space installation reflects a woodcut drawing style in a deep tattoo blue. The blue and woodcut style are to reflect both the styles and colors found in waves and the idea of memory and story tattooed on a place.
The long panel installed over the space is positioned to visually tell the viewer how deep the waves historically were when it was a landing bay. Additionally, the panel acts as a rain cover above to have the light shine through; cast story-like shadows on sunny days, and to mimic the look of waves when rain and wind are washing the panel from above.
